Opening of Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Latvia in Lisbon

It was a great pleasure and an honour to welcome the opening of Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Latvia in Lisbon!

The fates of Latvia and Portugal intertwine in space and time! Portugal has recognized the independence of Latvia on 19th of February 1921 and never accepted

Portugal together with others European countries recognized the renewal of independence of Latvia on 27 of August 1991.

This year Latvia and Portugal celebrates the 27th Anniversary since the renewal of diplomatic relations. During these years a solid ground was built, as of today Latvia and Portugal enjoy excellent relations of friendship and partnership! Both states are united by the common understanding of vision for the European Union and realities in the Europe and in the world.

This year is a very special year. Latvia celebrates a hundred years since it became an independent state. With festivities at home and all around the world, Latvia presents the best it can offer in culture, lifestyle and innovation.

Therefore it was a privilege, on this occasion, to introduce the new Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Latvia in Lisbon, located at Avenida da República, nº 18.
